This cycling leg runs along the Adda river on an unpaved path meandering through the woods.
The path is slightly uphill and on the way you meet some of the most impressive and old
electric power plants of the region.

After cycling for some kilometres admiring all the nice flora and fauna as well as human manufacts, you arrive at Imbersago, where you can cross the river on the famous Leonardo da Vinci ferry.

               
                                                                                                                                                

History: 

This leg is part of the Leonardo's Adda Eco museum, with its precious mosaic landscapes of water, with the absolute originality of its places, the sustainable exploitation and compatible development shared by harmonizing the activities of promotion and strengthening networks of local communities and the museum itself.

Today, the eco-museum membership is a reality that involves the North Adda Park, Navigli Lombardi Scarl and 10 municipalities: Imbersago, Villa d'Adda, Robbiate, Paderno d'Adda, Cornate d'Adda Trezzo d'Adda, Vaprio d'Adda
Canonica d'Adda Fara Gera d'Adda, Cassano d'Adda.
It was 1482 when Leonardo da Vinci, newly arrived in Milan, commissioned by Ludovico il Moro started studying a system to enable navigation from Lake Como to Milan. A solution to this problem is traceable in some designs of the Atlantic Codex.
Along the path you cycle the only un-navigable part of the Adda river, where Leonardo da Vinci planned and carried out a ship canal, Paderno canal, to make goods transportation possible.
Apart from Leonardo's artefacts along this path yuo meet some very impressive constructions, Esterle and Bertini power plants and Paderno Bridge.
Esterle and Bertini power plants were built at the very beginning of the XX century and are still operating.

The iron bridge of Paderno d'Adda is widely regarded as a true symbol of industry in Italy and one of the most interesting achievements of Italian engineering in the nineteenth century.
